The year 2020 tested our mettle, denying us the usual gathering of survivors, fighters, and supporters, depriving us of heartwarming testimonies and joyful embraces. But we did not falter. We adapted, innovated, and found a way to celebrate our warriors while safeguarding our community.
Our inaugural JCCS Cancer Cruise, held on that unforgettable September day in 2020 at the Jay County Fair Grounds, was a revelation. Friends and families, perched on lawn chairs, united in spirit yet distanced for safety, cheered with unyielding passion. Cancer patients and stalwart members cruised through, embraced by the waves of encouragement, their spirits uplifted by the unwavering support of their loved ones. Over 80 survivors, fighters, and their cherished companions were united in a powerful display of solidarity.
At that moment, our mission transcended monetary gains; it became a testament of love and unwavering support. We showcased to the world that the human spirit cannot be shackled by adversity. The Cancer Cruise paved the way for connection, compassion, and hope, transcending the boundaries of traditional fundraising.
